Warwick survives today as one of the most complete historic towns in the country. The town was founded in 914 by Ethelfleda, sister of Edward the Elder, as a defence against the Danes.

Within a relatively small area there are many buildings of historic interest, including Warwick Castle ‘Britain’s Greatest Mediaeval Experience’ where you can experience a mediaeval household preparing for battle in ‘Kingmaker’ or meet Daisy Countess of Warwick, in ‘A Royal Weekend Party’.

The Lord Leycester Hospital is a group of fine mediaeval timber-framed buildings which includes a Chapel, Great Hall, galleried Courtyard, Guildhall as well as the Queen’s Own Hussars Museum and Master’s Garden.

Collegiate Church of St Mary is famous for its Beauchamp Chapel, Normal Crypt, Mediaeval/Tudor tombs and tower.  There is also Oken’s House and Doll Museum, Warwickshire Museum which contains displays of Archaeology, Geology & Natural History, information on the Great fire of Warwick, Sheldon’s Tapestry Map and Warwickshire Bear.  St Johns Museum houses reconstructions of a Victorian parlour, kitchen and Classroom as well as the Royal Warwickshire Regimental Museum.

There is also The Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum, Mill Garden and Hill Close Gardens.  Warwick racecourse is one of the leading flat and steeple chasing courses and has a regular programme of 25 meetings throughout the year.

Warwick Tourist Information Centre website provides accurate up to date information for visitors to Warwick and Warwick Castle.   Visit www.warwick-uk.co.uk  to learn more about our town and it is even possible to book accommodation on-line.
