The Kings of Cocktails

The Theme bar and restaurant awards 2007 are for outstanding contribution to the bar trade, awards given for leaders not followers. Geisha Bar in Nottingham hosted the midlands and Wales regional final for the Theme bar and restaurant awards on 1st May 2007.

With some of the brightest stars in the industry all under one roof, the event saw operators, designers and those in the drinks industry rub shoulders and compare notes on who had won the awards for 2007.

Over 45 bars and restaurants had been short listed for the awards ceremony. The Kenilworth had been nominated for Four awards, ‘Best drinks selection’ ‘Best Barman’ and 'Best Bar team' Best Rum Cocktail'

Only in exceptional circumstances do nominated venues win more than one award so when the Kenilworth won 4 the owners Darren and Stuart Insall were both delighted.

Stuart said  "this award is for everyone who has contributed towards the Kenilworth, its particularly nice for people to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication we have all put into the business. Last year we won an unprecedented 3 awards but this year to win four is just unbelievable. We have beaten every bar in The midlands and Wales including Birmingham, Leamington, Coventry, Leicester…well the whole of the midlands and Wales"

Darren said '" I'm particularly pleased with the best drinks selection award as this is the ultimate award for us as we specialise in drinks and source our drinks from all over the world to ensure are cocktails have the authentic ingredients that sometimes date back to the 1800's"

Theme magazine editor Tom Innes said, "the Kenilworth scooped four awards at the Theme Bar & Restaurant Awards for a very simple reason; the venue exceeds all expectations. The drinks selection is second to none, the execution of the drinks and the ambience of the entire place is breath taking and mixologist Richard Gillam certainly knows how to excite the taste buds with his creations'. The Kenilworth can also be very excited by the prospect of acquiring Chris Moore as part of their team as Chris is without doubt one of the brightest prospects in the industry".

Having picked up four accolades in the Midlands and Wales finals of the awards, the Kenilworth will go forward to the National finals, where they will battle it out with the best of the rest of the country in London on June 6th. The events main speaker for the evening will be Chris Evans who will be among many stars that the Kenilworth will be rubbing shoulders with.
Stuart said ' We will be the only representatives in our categories representing the Midlands so it will be a very proud evening seeing Kenilworth lit up in lights with so many celebs present'.
