Birmingham International Airport, located at the centre of England, is easy to get to, being served by a range of intercity, regional and local rail services. Trains call at Birmingham International Interchange, only 500 metres from the Airport Passenger Terminals and linked by the automatic SkyRail  system. The Airport is also at the centre of the UK's motorway network and only 1 mile (1.6 km) from junction 6 of the M42.

As befitting a major international airport flights depart from Birmingham to a huge range of destinations around the globe.   Some of the scheduled Airlines flying from Birmingham include British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, SAS, Emirates, Continental Airlines, Aer Lingus, & Air 2000.  For a full list please see the website.

BIA and the companies that operate on site together constitute a major employer in the region. Currently over 6,000 jobs are based at BIA and a further 1000 jobs off site, but directly related to the Airport. Over 60% of Airport site employees live locally in Solihull and Birmingham. BIA generates regional income of £165 million. By 2011/12, we estimate that BIA will generate a total of around £490 million of income and support 14,400 full time jobs in the West Midlands region.
